Online survey

Key benefits from research

Surveys allow you to avoid making decisions under conditions of uncertainty. Having the results of the study, you are 95-99% likely to make the right decision.

Opportunities of the method

Online surveys began to be used in marketing practice relatively recently. This is a very convenient and fast data collection tool, which is why the number of online surveys conducted is growing every year.

Conducting an online survey allows you to quickly collect the necessary data (for example, it is incomparably faster than a personal survey). Another advantage of the technique is the ability to demonstrate images (product, advertising attributes) and video and audio recordings. This feature allows online surveys to compete well with other popular data collection methods because online surveys are less expensive.

Sample size and timeline

The minimum size of a representative sample for such projects per region is 400 questionnaires. By region we mean any territory for which separate analytics is required (this could be, for example, a city or country). In cases where it is necessary to separately consider and compare data from, for example, 2 cities, the minimum sample is 800 questionnaires. The minimum period for surveying this quantity is 1 business day.

The cost of an online survey consists of the cost of collecting a selected number of questionnaires (payment is taken only for fully completed questionnaires) and the cost of analytics (usually no more than 10-15% of the cost of data collection)

You can calculate the cost of one questionnaire yourself using our calculator (you will need to enter the number of open and closed questions in the questionnaire, quotas)

The cost of such a study is from 1000 £ (the cost is indicated for a minimum sample).

Description of the approach

An online survey is a quantitative technique, so questionnaires for such surveys contain up to 50 questions.

The research agency BCGroup transfers a reward to respondents to their mobile phone for completing an online survey. The key advantage of BCGroup surveys is that the reward is transferred immediately after completing the survey (and not when a certain amount is accumulated, as in other systems).

The questionnaire allows you to add images and videos to the questionnaire, create dependent questions and blocks of questions, which simplifies the questionnaire and makes it convenient to fill out. In addition, the BCGroup online survey system allows you to track falsification by various parameters (for example, filling out a questionnaire by the same person), which allows you to collect high-quality data.

Process of research

BCGroup’s work on preparing and conducting an online survey is structured as follows:

1. A BCGroup specialist clarifies the tasks facing the research using an online survey, a portrait of the target audience;
2. A BCGroup specialist agrees with the customer on the final version of the survey questionnaire, the geography of the survey, and the possibility of attracting the BCGroup respondent base;
3. An NDA (confidentiality agreement) is signed between BCGroup and the company;
4. BCGroup sends invitations to the target audience to participate in an online survey (by agreement with the customer, an additional bonus is possible for respondents for inviting a friend to participate in the survey, which is often used with narrow target audiences and allows to reduce the time required for collecting information);
5. BCGroup collects data in a short time (depending on the topic and audience selection criteria, it is possible to survey up to 1000 people per day);
6. Next, the BCGroup employee transfers the data array to the customer’s representative in Excel or SPSS format;
7. After 3-5 days, a BCGroup employee sends an analytical report on the tasks set by the customer before research using an online survey.
